Mentors

About

Discovery Community Care (DCC) was established more than 10 years ago as the community arm of Discovery Church. A main aim of DCC is assisting families in our community by creating opportunities for people to develop their life and work skills, whilst making friends.

In 2011 Discovery Church launched its vision to impact the local community by Moving Closer. One of the tools planned to accomplish this was the establishment of the COACH Community Mentoring program.

In 2013 as a direct result of the generosity of the church congregation, the COACH program began to receive extra financial backing.

In 2014 a part time COACH coordinator was employed to enable more time and energy to be focused upon the program.

We believe we will see the program blossom to its full potential in the years to come, positively impacting the lives of many families, seeing the local community enriched.

Aim:

The aim of COACH is to empower people through committed mentoring to break cycles of disadvantage in their life, assisting them to make positive decisions for a brighter future.

Specific aims:

  • To break the cycle of generational poverty and its social consequences by helping families with communication, parenting, finance, employment, mental & emotional health and social skills
  • To make a difference in our local community, by empowering families to make positive changes in their lives
  • To see the lives of families transformed so they will be able to positively impact others
